Imagine…
…your body being gently moved and positioned in ways that feel nurturing and safe.
…an environment where your body uses its ability to correct, realign and heal itself
…being healed in a way that is not only relaxing, but deeply, profoundly healing.
…receiving deep relief at the very root of your pain and injuries.
You’ve just imagined Ortho-Bionomy®.
Ortho-Bionomy is a nurturing therapeutic practice that offers effective relief from pain of all kinds. Working gently with you where you are right now, with compassionate acknowledgment, reflection, and exaggeration, your body is shown the patterns that are the cause of pain and imbalance. This uncovers of the roots and foundations of pain and distress, causing the body to initiate a change or correction from within.
Receiving this work is healing on all levels, re-energizing the body and spirit, and enabling the release of emotions that prevent you from moving forward and releasing pain.
The Four Keys to Your Ortho-Bionomy Session:
1. Always Feels Good, Never Feels Bad
The Big, Huge, Number One rule in Ortho-Bionomy is that we always work with two guidelines: It should never hurt, and it should always feel really good. This can be an adjustment for you if you’ve always believed in “no pain, no gain”, but it’s an adjustment worth making. Never hurting means you can never get hurt. It’s very relaxing, too.
2. I’ll Meet You At Your Place
Does you body have limits as to what it can and cannot do? Do you feel protective of an area of injury? Wherever you are is where we start. It works with everyone. No matter how stiff or flexible, mobile or rigid, old, young, relatively healthy, or disabled, I address your body with the same level of care and detail, without judgment or assumption.
3. R-E-S-P-E-C-T
We will not go charging in to your tender or sensitive places. Ever. Gently, slowly, we find the borders of your comfort and ease and explore them together. We won’t make you do anything. Ever. Once your subconscious figures this out, you really relax into the nurturing refuge we create, allowing you to do deep healing.
4. Where You Lead, I Will Follow
In this conversation we call Ortho-Bionomy, your body does most of the talking, and I do most of the listening. What this means is that together, we never go anywhere that your body hasn’t told me it wants to go. We stay somewhere only as long as it wants or needs to, and we only ever provide you with what your deeper self knows you can handle at the time.

Ortho-Bionomy embraces the radical view that the process of feeling pleasure can be about healing and the process of healing can be pleasurable. It is about the connection of all parts of the consciousness: body, mind, spirit. It is about the relationship to the self, and the relationship of the self to the rest of the world. It addresses the tension and stress that are held in our bodies, that prevents our essential nature from shining through.
OB works by re-educating the neuromuscular system. It’s premise is when you exagerate the body’s preferences and reflect them back to the recipient, the natural self-correcting and self-balancing reflexes are stimulated. This client-centered work addresses each person’s individual pattern in a unique and personal way. By following the preferences and limitations of the body, using movement and gentle compression, subtle but profound effects are produced in a supportive, nurturing manner. The nervous systems is shown how to reset the neuromuscular reflexes, resulting in diminishing or eliminating chronic pain and injury. Long held patterns in the consciousness can be released safely, comfortably and deeply.
This experience is transparent; in other words, there is no need to assess or consciously process the release. Often it happens without any conscious realization at all except for the resulting feeling of comfort, lack of pain, balance, relaxation, and energetic renewal.
The touch is gentle, the work is reflective, nurturing, and supportive. It demonstrates to your body where you are, rather than telling you where you should be. The result is a blossoming of who you really are and always have been – before injury; before trauma; before shame, bad posture, and imposed limits; free from pain and limited mobility.
Ortho-Bionomy sessions are deeply relaxing and incredibly profound. They are performed clothed, without oils or creams, with you lying on a soft massage table. The practitioner gently positions and moves the body, giving it feedback and data, allowing it to recognize what is going on in there. Your only requirement as a recipient is a willingness to provide feedback regarding any discomfort, and the ability to let go as much as you are able to at the time.It is a good idea to wear clothing which allows movement. Individuals find the experience very soothing and many drift off into a state of profound relaxation.
Functioning as a facilitator for your healing process, the practitioner is the guide toward helping the you achieve your natural state by assisting in the processing of patterns imposed on the consciousness by your experiences.
The experience of a session is very individual; some slip off into deep relaxation almost immediately, while others are not aware of how differently they feel until they sit up at the end. There is often an experience of becoming aware of the connection between one part of the body – like the knee, and another – like the jaw. Descriptions of body sensations include rushes of electricity or chi, tingling, bubbling, a deep sense of relief, letting go, opening, or a welling of emotion. People have seen colors or stories unfold, or may remain completely aware of their presence in the room.
Those who have discovered the power of this work are amazed by the way it leaves them feeling both profoundly relaxed while deeply energized. They receive relief from old and new injuries and chronic pain, as their bodies gently return to a state of relaxation, ease, and balance.
As it is painless, comfortable, it is appropriate for people of any age or condition. I have used this work on infants, people in their 80s, people with severe injuries or in delicate health. It has been shown to be effective for a variety of injuries and sources of pain, including those that are stubborn, decades old, from unexplained sources, or from recent injuries, or sudden onsets of discomfort, pain or imbalance.
Ortho-Bionomy is for anyone who is willing to be trusting, present, and pain free. It is highly effective for long term to permanent relief from pain and discomfort. Many people find it a deeply nurturing experience in which they can experience profound healing and a sense of utter relaxation.
The foundational guiding principle of Ortho-Bionomy is “Away from pain, into comfort.” This principle characterizes the respectful, gentle approach used in practicing it. The approach is always to work with each individual where and how he is right now.
